A diesel injection pump is responsible for supplying fuel to the injectors at the right time and in the right quantity for the engine to function correctly. Its main function is to meter the diesel fuel and send it to the injectors for atomization in the combustion chamber.

The pump ensures that fuel is injected at high pressure and at the right point in the engine cycle to optimize combustion, improving efficiency and reducing emissions.

As mileage accumulates, the injection pump loses capacity, and there are some symptoms that may indicate it is starting to fail.

• Loss of engine power and performance: If you notice a lack of acceleration, difficulty reaching top speeds, and a slower throttle response.
• Difficult or irregular starting: A faulty injection pump can make it difficult to start the engine, especially when cold.
• Excessive exhaust smoke: Excessive dark or white smoke can be an indication of injection pump problems.
• Abnormal engine noises: Unusual noises such as knocking, clicking, or buzzing can indicate wear or malfunction.
• Increased fuel consumption: If you detect a sudden increase in fuel consumption without changes in driving conditions.
